In the frame of this workshop we will learn, analyse and debate on actionsdone by performance and visual artists as well as activists in protests aroundthe globe (Occupy Wall Street, Balfour demonstrations, Black Lives Matter, Argentine 2001, etc.), analysing tactics of violence and non-violence.
First day, Monday, 21st November:
In this session we will be concentrated on the discussion of protest "as performance" and the performativity of protests,following a discussion on actions, tactics employed by artists such as the Erroristas in Argentine, the Yes Man in Israel among others. We will debate about how culture of protests influences artists and how artists and creative activists influence and create culture of protests.
The second session Practicing Protests, Tuesday, 22nd November:
A Visual and Performative Approach. This section will be based on projects developed by the participants in the seminar in relation to the topic of the workshop. The sessions will be followed by a general discussion and elective meetings between the participants, the guest lecturer Dr. Diego Rotman and the host Prof. Bernhard Fuchs.
